If you're available now and any of the below opportunities interest you, please e-mail  info@washingtonpeacecenter.org with your availability, which project(s) interests you, and information about yourself.   We look forward to hearing from you!

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Tabling at various events in DC:  We are looking for people who are willing to join us in the community and promote the various services that the Washington Peace Center provides for the DC community.

2.  Drupal Friend for our Website!  The Washington Peace Center is looking for a drupal-friendly person to help upkeep and expand our website, www.washingtonpeacecenter.org.  This can be done from anywhere with regular phone calls with staff who are in DC.  We’re a small grassroots organization and can’t afford to hire a web person but would love to improve and expand  some aspects of our site.  If you know drupal and want to help out a great peace group, or are looking to improve your drupal skills and experiment on is, please let us know!

We would appreciate someone who could give a few hours for a small project now or more ongoing training and support.

Please send an email with a brief description of who you are, why you’re interested and what kind of skills you have to info@washingtonpeacecenter.org, subject: Drupal Friend.

3. Calendar Whiz:  Find out what's happening in DC!  We have a comprehensive online calendar of progressive events in and around DC, posting about 75 events a week.  This is an amazing resource we offer to the DC community, but it also takes a lot of work.  We're looking for people who can help go through our emails, pick out the event postings and put them on our website.  This is an easy online task that you can do from home whenever is convenient for you and we'll train you on how to do it.  It takes one person about 5 hours a week to do this task, but it can be split up among a few people if folks are interested.  It's a great way to find out all the great things going on in the DC area and what organizations are major players in the grassroots world.

4. Help spread the peaceful word!  We are always looking to distribute copies of our newspaper, the Peace Letter.   We have volunteers drive around the area, dropping about 600 copies off at various organizations, cafes and libraries and we'd love to do another sweep with more copies. If you have a car and want to check out parts of DC you probably haven't been, this is the task for you!   We'll give you the list of places and a box of Peace Letters.

5.  Use your artistic skills for social justice!  We'd love help in designing a posters and flyers for events and resources to put up around the city.  Prior experience with Photoshop or InDesign would be helpful.
